Job Summary

The Food and Nutrition Services Department at Baycrest provides service to clients within our Hospital Services and the Mountainview and Freeman Day Centres. Our vision is to provide safe, appetizing food of optimum nutritional quality to facilitate an enjoyable mealtime experience for patients, residents, staff and visitors in compliance with the Jewish laws of Kashruth.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Supervise all services within designated area of responsibility according to Baycrest’s mission statement, values and strategic plan
  • Ensure adherence to the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management and their ethics and standards of practice
  • Ensure compliance with external legislative standards and centre wide departmental policies and procedures as related to areas of responsibility
  • Ensure laws of Kashruth are adhered to within areas of responsibility and be sensitive to diverse cultural needs
  • Implement and maintain the Quality Improvement audit schedule
  • Works in collaboration with the Registered Dietitian and other interdisciplinary department.
  • Assist in orientation plan for the new hire, staff training and in-service education according to needs of the home and regulatory body standards
  • Able to do staff schedule, organize meetings and minutes.
  • Monitor and evaluate employee performance.
  • Ensure full compliance with all necessary sanitation and food safety standards

 

Qualifications

  • Experience supervising staff in a unionized environment required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Long Term Care.
  • Current Advance Food Handlers Certification
  • Current member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management or Registered Dietitian
  • Familiar with MOHLTC Regulations and knowledge of clinical documentation and therapeutic nutrition.
  • Effective customer service, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office Software Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with Pointclick Care, Computrition, Mealsuite is an asset.
