The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis to ensure accuracy and support decision-making.  This position will partner with operations and cross-functional teams to improve profitability and efficiency, while overseeing revenue streams and cost controls.  This position also ensures strong internal controls and compliance and develops a high-performing finance team focused on accountability and continuous improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities

 
Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Lead accounting and financial reporting across multiple business lines to ensure accuracy, consistency, and strategic alignment.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes to maintain reliable financial records.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial information to support effective decision-making.
  • Prepare and present clear, actionable financial reports to leadership to drive informed business outcomes.

 Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Support annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes to enable proactive financial planning.
  • Analyze financial performance, trends, and variances to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Evaluate event-level and operational profitability to optimize financial outcomes.
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to improve margins and operational efficiency.

 Operations & Business Partnership

  • Act as a key liaison between accounting and operations teams to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams across sports, venue, food & beverage, retail, and production to support business objectives.
  • Translate financial results into clear, actionable recommendations to enhance operational performance.

 Revenue & Cost Oversight

  • Monitor and analyze diverse revenue streams, including ticketing, sponsorship, retail, food & beverage, and events, to maximize revenue growth.
  • Review and validate game-day and event settlements to ensure financial accuracy and accountability.
  • Track sponsorship, league reporting, and revenue-sharing arrangements to maintain compliance and transparency.
  • Oversee expense management, including travel and operational costs, to control spending and improve profitability.

 Controls & Compliance

  • Strengthen internal controls over cash, inventory, and revenue recognition to mitigate financial risk.
  • Oversee inventory management, cost of goods sold, and shrink in partnership with operations to safeguard assets.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external reporting requirements to uphold regulatory standards.

 Team Leadership

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance oversight for accounting and finance team members to build a high-performing team.
  • Support the development of team members and drive continuous process improvement to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • Accounting degree and pursuing a CPA designation.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
  • Ability to manage complexity across multiple revenue streams.
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort with accounting systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence non-financial stakeholders.
  • A proactive, hands-on mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in multi-entity, high-volume, or operational environments (sports, hospitality, retail, or entertainment considered an asset).
