Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Senior Job Evaluation Consultant will provide senior level expertise in the areas of job design, analysis, evaluation, and compensation. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Director and HR Generalist team to consult and lead the job evaluation process including working with supervisors on the creation, maintenance and review of position description forms and job fact sheets. 

Key Responsibilities

·         The successful incumbent will provide a customer service approach and act as a consultant to managers on job design, job documentation, job evaluation and compensation issues for support staff and administrative staff positions.

·         For new and existing positions, ensure the integrity of the job evaluation programs by providing consultation and advice to managers on appropriate job design, utilizing job data collection and analysis techniques to ensure job documentation is complete and appropriate.

·         Provide senior level expertise to the job evaluation process by consistently applying established job evaluation criteria under the plans, and in accordance with job evaluation principles.

·         Using a consultative approach, identify and document relevant issues and recommend appropriate solutions that are consistent with internal policies, and applicable collective agreements.

·         Support job evaluation tracking data and pay grid maintenance.

·         Support and maintain a regular job evaluation review schedule for each staffing group to ensure all jobs are reviewed in accordance within the appropriate timelines.

·         Provide consultation to the HR team on process improvements as they relate to the job evaluation process. 

The successful candidate will possess a minimum 3-year degree/diploma in Human Resources or Business Administration. With a minimum of 5 years progressive HR experience related directly to job design, analysis, evaluation, and compensation in a unionized environment. Experience must include job design and documentation of unionized jobs and evaluating jobs applying a point factor job evaluation plan as well as administration of salary compensation program(s). The ideal incumbent also possesses other general knowledge of HR including employee/labour relations and management theories and practices to facilitate effective consultation and advisory services to a client group. Experience working with a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) will be considered an asset.  Additional qualifications include demonstrated excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills as well the ability to work autonomously.
