Job Description/Requirements

The role of the Marketing Manager, Asia-Pacific will be to manage and grow partner marketing relationships across the APAC region, with a particular focus on Japan. Their primary responsibilities will focus on the day-to-day planning/execution of IMAX marketing initiatives across multiple countries, while ensuring that partners strongly integrate IMAX in their own marketing efforts. The Marketing Manager will work collaboratively with IMAX’s various exhibitor, studio and distributor partners to deliver innovative and best in class film marketing campaigns, with a particular emphasis on local Asian films.

 

What you’ll be doing:

 

  • Develop and nurture marketing relationships with a focus on exhibitor partners (particularly in Japan) to ensure deep integration of IMAX messaging in film marketing and brand campaigns, focusing on raising IMAX brand knowledge and IMAX box office.
  • Act as the frontline representative and IMAX evangelist for key marketing partners, ensuring they are fully aware of the strong IMAX benefits to their business.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of ROI-positive, best in class, IMAX-centric film and brand marketing campaigns that deliver against IMAX GBO and attendance growth.
  • Build and execute launch plans for new IMAX locations across the region, working closely with exhibitor partners.
  • Work with the Global Brand, Film Marketing, and Communications teams out of the United States, and International Film & Exhibitor Marketing out of the UK to ensure cohesive regional marketing plans are executed.
  • Closely collaborate with the Senior Marketing Manager to ensure film marketing efforts are properly relayed across local exhibitor partners.
  • Ensure exhibitor partners have available IMAX assets in a timely manner and that they utilize them across their campaigns to great effect.
  • Assist in researching local territory cinema business and apply learning to deliverables. 
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of the marketing departments, and from time-to-time the Sales and Theatre Services department’s long-term business plans.

 

What we’re looking for:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business administration or other applicable discipline.
  • Minimum 4-6 years experience working in marketing or planning (ideally in the entertainment industry) with strong account and project management experience across communications and media projects.
  • A proven track record in developing and growing relationships with large partners from a B2B perspective, ideally within a consumer goods or media/entertainment environment.
  • Fluency in English (business) & Japanese (native or near-native), and able to convincingly negotiate with Japanese-speaking partners.
  • Must be extremely flexible, welcome change, and have the confidence to work independently when required.

  • Relationship Management - Exceptional relationship management capabilities, including the proven ability to negotiate and influence outcomes with a proactive and thoughtful approach.
  • Organization - Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in an environment of shifting priorities.
  • Attention To Detail - Detail oriented and thorough, with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Teamwork - Able to both work in a team environment, and to work independently, be a self-starter and take the initiative.
