OVERVIEW
This role provides safe, coordinated nursing care by transporting and supporting patients during transfers, treatments, and diagnostic procedures while ensuring continuity of care. The nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, adapts to changing clinical needs, and supports patient care units as assigned within their scope of practice.
ROLE

Transport patients to and from treatments, diagnostic tests, or admissions to other hospitals or sites

Remain with patients during transfers except when undergoing tests or procedures

Document care provided, reports received, and administer medications as required within scope of practice

Accommodate variable start and finish times based on appointment and transfer needs

Assume medical-surgical floor assignments when covering for an RN during patient transfers

Provide direct nursing care and perform all essential duties within the RPN scope of practice

Be assigned to areas of greatest need as directed by Nurse Managers or team leaders

Plan, organize, and deliver nursing care for patients with predictable outcomes across settings

Initiate and assist with Code Blue and Rapid Response procedures and ensure continuity of care

Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and departments while supporting quality and education initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
- Minimum of 2-3 years of current experience as a Nurse in an acute care setting
- BLS - Basic Life Support
- IV Certified

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Location: South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Hours of Work: Shifts are 8 hours in length, Monday - Friday. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
