ROLE
The clinical dietitian is a multidisciplinary team member and nutrition consultant for MAHC. The dietitian assesses nutritional status, plans, implements and evaluates evidence-based nutrition care for ambulatory and in-patients.

Identify patients at nutrition risk requiring intervention through referrals and nutrition screening.

In accordance with College of Dietitians of Ontario standards and MAHC policies and procedures:

Provide individualized nutrition assessment.

With a patient and family centered approach, develop nutrition care goals and initiate interventions to optimize oral intake (e.g., individualized food preferences, menu marking and nutritional supplements) and make recommendations for nutrition support (enteral / parenteral) as appropriate.

Document nutrition care, evaluate nutrition care plans and maintain client records.

Attend patient care rounds, team and family meetings.

Participate in the education of food service supervisors, medical students, nurses, allied health professionals, other care team members and community partners.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)

Successful completion of an accredited Food and Nutrition program of academic and practical training or the equivalent.

Successful completion of the Canadian Dietetic Registration Examination or equivalent.

Membership with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)

1-2 years related experience.

Utilization of information technology to support practice.

Organizational skills to perform required duties effectively and efficiently.

Regular and punctual attendance is mandatory.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Location: Multi-Site, working on site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Hours of Work: Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
