Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site, and together we provide outstanding, integrated care to support people in living their healthiest lives.

ROLE

• Provide leadership and clinical guidance to the oncology nursing team
• Act as a clinical resource for complex oncology cases and infusion therapies
• Assess, administer IV medications, Infuse/Preform Transfusions and monitor patients
• Participates in discharge planning/multidisciplinary rounds, family conferences, and palliative care planning
• Assist physicians with procedures as necessary
• Assessing and reporting changes in patient condition to the patient’s physician
• Provides education to patients and/or family in conjunction with other staff members/departments
• Assists support staff in arranging appropriate patient bookings
• Champion safety, efficiency, and best practices in oncology care delivery

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Training through the Cancer Program (DeSouza Institute or equivalent)
• Minimum 3–5 years of recent oncology nursing experience
• Previous experience in a Team Lead or leadership role is an asset
• Previous emergency or ambulatory care experience an asset.
• Current knowledge of oncology drugs, treatments, and their interactions
• Current DeSouza Bio-Chemo Certification
• Current CPR
• IV certification
• RVH Mentoring
• Willingness to obtain CVAA and CNA certification in oncology nursing

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

Location: Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis

Hours of Work:  Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
