Laundry Aide
Dear ENVS Team,
Expressions of interest are being accepted from members of the SEIU bargaining unit who wish to work as a Laundry Aide.
The purpose of this position is to reduce the current staff shortage issue. The successful applicant will begin with a training day in the laundry department and then be available for assigned shifts thereafter. This Expression of Interest will follow the Collective Agreement section 11.05 and will conclude within a 6-month period. The successful applicant will then return to their previous part-time status.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work well with others in an interdisciplinary team.
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to work and complete workload assignments with minimal supervision.
- Must complete workload assignments with a high degree of attention to detail and thoroughness throughout areas of assignment.
- Show an eagerness and capacity to adapt to change.
- Regular and punctual attendance is a requirement of this position.
- Individual must be able to meet the physical requirements of this position which include lifting, standing, walking and the operation of various equipment for long periods of time.
Preference will be given to individuals who possess the following
- Part-Time and Casual ENVS employees
- SMMH site staff members
Granting of this opportunity shall be based on a number of factors, including previous related experience, the candidate’s demonstrated ability, flexibility and availability, attendance record, and operational need. Training shifts will be scheduled based on current posted schedules and availability of those departments to train.
