Working together to provide outstanding integrated health care to our communities delivering best patient outcomes with exemplary standards and compassion, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site. 

 

ROLE 

  • Develop and monitor metrics related to skin and wound care practice
  • Evaluate current skin and wound care products and their use within the facility
  • Promote policy and procedure development and change management consistent with evidence based practice
  • Develop and lead clinicians  in knowledge acquisition and dissemination
  • Identify learning needs and assist in developing content and delivery
  • Evaluate change in practice and effectiveness of protocols 
  • Facilitate an interprofessional approach to care for skin protection and wound care
  • Monitor product usage to maintain both best practices and fiscal responsibility
  • Provide clinical consultation to staff, patient and family member
  • Provide ongoing assessment and guidance for difficult wounds on the floor
  • Acts as a resource, coach and mentor to clinicians and opportunities for patient education

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Registered Nurse with current College of Nurses of Ontario registration, without restrictions

  • Wound care experience with demonstrated knowledge of pressure injury prevention practices and protocols, and application of wound care management practices

  • Experience and skills in observation, independent assessment, health teaching, communication, and interpersonal relationship building

  • Recent completion of an accredited program or certification in wound care best practices (or willingness to complete).

  • Certificate in enterostomal therapy and / or wound management from an accredited program or willing to obtain

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S) 

  • Superior leadership and interpersonal skills. 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 

  • Excellent computer skills – working knowledge of Cerner and Microsoft Office Word & Excel and Learning Management software. 

  • Evidence of a commitment to continuous learning. 

  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, and to function in both leadership and collaborative roles. 

  • Experience in development of staff education materials. 

  • Significant clinical wound care experience.

 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

 

Location: Multi-Site, working in person at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. 

 

Hours of Work: Must be available for all shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as per the collective agreement. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements.
