Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager to lead the Infection Prevention & Control (IPAC) department and Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) program. The successful candidate will oversee strategic planning, daily operations, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance to ensure excellence in patient care and service delivery.

ROLE

  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of IPAC and OTN programs in alignment with hospital standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of qualified professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage departmental operating and capital budgets; analyze financial reports and variances.
  • Ensure continuous quality improvement through program audits, accreditation readiness, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to enhance care delivery and maintain effective referral processes.
  • Provide expert guidance during outbreak management and lead the hospital’s response to emerging infectious diseases.
  • Maintain compliance with provincial and federal legislation, including timely reporting of reportable diseases.
  • Oversee and evaluate infection surveillance, patient safety initiatives, and epidemiological risk assessments.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing education programs for staff, physicians, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
  • Chair the IPAC committee and contribute actively to hospital-wide initiatives and cross-functional committees.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field required
  • Post graduate degree in health-related field preferred
  • 3 years relevant experience within a health-related setting
  • 2 years of related experience in Infection Prevention and Control and/or Outpatient Services roles in a healthcare setting
  • Regulated Health Professional in good standing with the associated professional Ontario body (ex. College of Nurses of Ontario, College of Medical Lab Technologists)
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • Advanced knowledge of IPAC informatics and technologies
  • Membership in local and national Infection Prevention and Control Associations

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

 

Location: Multi-Site, working on site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis

 

Hours of Work:  Shifts will be Monday to Friday 8 am - 4 pm, however shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements. You may also be required to be available evenings and weekends.
