Designated Omnicell Automated Dispensing Unit (ADU) Management Pharmacy Technicians
Dear Pharmacy Team,
Expressions of interest are being accepted from members of the OPSEU Paramedical bargaining unit who wish to work as one or two Pharmacy Technicians in ADU Management.
These positions will be assigned designated time every day from Monday to Friday to focus on ADU related tasks. Weekend and evening shifts will remain part of the existing rotation, with the designated technicians backfilling each other as needed. One technician will serve as the Primary ADU Technician, and the other as the Secondary ADU Technician.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Inventory Management: Monitoring inventory within the ADUs to ensure accurate stock levels, stock rotation and minimize medication shortages.
- ADU Maintenance: Performing routine system checks to maintain optimal unit performance and compliance with infection control standards.
- PAR Level Oversight: Reviewing and adjusting PAR levels based on usage data and departmental needs.
- Override Report Review: Regular monitoring and analysis of override reports to ensure adherence to safe medication practices and support quality assurance.
- Visit Encounter Matching: Ensuring proper linkage of medications dispensed to corresponding patient encounters to support documentation accuracy and billing processes.
- Service Requests: Submitting and tracking technical service requests to Omnicell and collaborating with vendor support as needed.
- Troubleshooting: Assisting with troubleshooting of ADU issues, providing support to nursing and pharmacy staff as necessary.
Preference will be given to individuals who possess the following
- Registered Pharmacy Technician designation from the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
- Experience with Omnicell and inventory management systems preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within the pharmacy team
- Problem-solving skills to address stock shortages and supply chain issues
- Adaptability and interest in developing and improving inventory processes
Granting of this opportunity shall be based on a number of factors, including previous related experience, the candidate’s demonstrated ability, flexibility and availability, attendance record, and operational need. Training shifts will be scheduled based on current posted schedules and availability of those departments to train.
