ROLE
Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Dialysis Unit. As an integral member of the healthcare team, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing dialysis treatment. Your expertise, compassion, and commitment to excellence will contribute to the delivery of high-quality care for patients with kidney diseases.
- Co-ordinate all activities related to the care of patients including assessments, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients undergoing dialysis treatment
- Monitor patients' vital signs, assess the effectiveness of treatment, and provide appropriate interventions as needed
- Administer medications, including intravenous medications, as prescribed by physicians
- Assist physicians with procedures as necessary
- Responsible for assessing and reporting changes in patient condition the patient’s physician and charge person when necessary
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Educate patients and their families on kidney disease, dialysis treatment, and self-care techniques
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited university
- Current Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current CPR and BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Certification in Nephrology Nursing (CNN) or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe
- Current IV certification, including management of central lines
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)
- Minimum two (2) years' experience in hemodialysis nursing
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Knowledge of current dialysis practices
- Current knowledge of drugs, treatments and their interactions
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Regular and punctual attendance is a requirement of this position
DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION
- Critical care experience and related educational course(s)
- Acute care experience
- Leadership course(s)/certification

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Location: Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Hours of Work: Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
