The Clinical Nurse Educator plays a key role in advancing nursing practice by assessing learning needs, developing strategic education plans, and delivering clinical training. They serve as a primary resource for nursing staff, supporting competency and best practices.

ROLE 

•  Assist in processes to identify, assess and engage stakeholders regarding nursing development needs
• Participate in development of a strategic plan for clinical education and nursing development
• Source training solutions, and where possible or preferable, design/deliver in-house training
• Principle clinical resource point person for nursing staff to help ensure competency within scopes of practice and adoption of best practice
• Champion for quality and patient safety for clinical practices
• Provide guidance to new hires, preceptors and students
• Assists with content, presentation, education and updates regarding clinical policies and procedures as needed
• Develop Learning Management modules for staff as needed
• Develop and ensure nursing clinical orientation aligns with current best practice, and skills needs based on feedback from stakeholders
• Deliver clinical orientation for Extern, Student, PSW and other staff as needed
• Provide ongoing guidance to mentee, mentor and Clinical Scholar
• Support and have an active leadership role within the wound care program
• Provide leadership regarding the creation and implementation of a learning plan
• Provide onboarding of all Agency staff
• Participate in Product Evaluation Committee and organize third-party education where applicable
• Provide IV Education Skills sessions to NOSM students
• Provide orientation and skills/competencies to staff as needed

 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

Location: Multi-Site, working in person at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. 

Hours of Work: Shifts will be Monday to Friday 8 am - 4 pm; however, shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements. You may also be required to be available evenings and weekends.
