The Clinical Nurse Educator plays a key role in advancing nursing practice by assessing learning needs, developing strategic education plans, and delivering clinical training. They serve as a primary resource for nursing staff, supporting competency and best practices.
ROLE
- Assist in processes to identify, assess and engage stakeholders regarding nursing development needs
- Participate in development of a strategic plan for clinical education and nursing development
- Source training solutions, and where possible or preferable, design/deliver in-house training
- Principle clinical resource point person for nursing staff to help ensure competency within scopes of practice and adoption of best practice
- Champion for quality and patient safety for clinical practices
- Provide guidance to new hires, preceptors and students
- Assists with content, presentation, education and updates regarding clinical policies and procedures as needed
- Develop Learning Management modules for staff as needed
- Develop and ensure nursing clinical orientation aligns with current best practice, and skills needs based on feedback from stakeholders
- Deliver clinical orientation for Extern, Student, PSW and other staff as needed
- Provide ongoing guidance to mentee, mentor and Clinical Scholar
- Support and have an active leadership role within the wound care program
- Provide leadership regarding the creation and implementation of a learning plan
- Provide onboarding of all Agency staff
- Participate in Product Evaluation Committee and organize third-party education where applicable
- Provide IV Education Skills sessions to NOSM students
- Provide orientation and skills/competencies to staff as needed
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)
- Certificate courses related to Adult Education
- Current HSFO BLS and ACLS Provider
- TNCC completion
- PALS certification
- NRP Certification
- ENPC Certification
- CNA Speciality Certification (Desired)
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)
- Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering clinical workshops and training programs, as well as coaching staff and conducting quality practice assessments
- Superior leadership and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent computer skills – working knowledge of Cerner and Microsoft Office Word & Excel, and Learning Management software
- Keen interest in the process of adult education
- Evidence of a commitment to continuous learning
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, and to function in both leadership and collaborative roles
- Experience in development of staff education materials
- Clinical wound care experience
- Minimum three years of Emergency Department experience

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Location: Multi-Site, working in person at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville.
Hours of Work: Shifts will be Monday to Friday 8 am - 4 pm; however, shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements. You may also be required to be available evenings and weekends.
