The Food Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hospital kitchen and nutrition services to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality meal service for patients, residents, clients, and staff. This role combines leadership in food production with patient-centred nutrition support, infection control, and administrative duties.
ROLE
- Direct and coordinate food service staff in daily meal preparation for patients, residents, and community programs such as Meals on Wheels.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of patient meals, nourishments, and therapeutic diets, updating meal plans in consultation with clinical dietitians and other health care providers.
- Maintain compliance with infection control, food safety, and occupational health and safety standards, including monitoring and documenting food and equipment temperatures.
- Oversee catering functions, manage shift coverage, and address staffing, supply, or equipment issues as they arise.
- Communicate with patients, residents, families, and clinical staff to accommodate dietary preferences and nutritional needs.
- Mentor students, support staff education, and participate in departmental and organizational committees.
- Manage departmental supplies responsibly and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Report hazards, equipment issues, and unsafe conditions promptly and follow up on corrective actions.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)
- Food and Nutrition Service Management Diploma or the equivalent (2-year College Program)
- Membership with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)
- Computer application skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- 2 years quantity food production and basic nutrition knowledge/ background
DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION
- Current Food Handlers Certificate from Public Health is preferred

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Location: Multi-site working at both Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) in Huntsville and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) in Bracebridge. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Hours of Work: Must be available to work shifts, including days and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
