Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site, and together we provide outstanding, integrated care to support people in living their healthiest lives.


MAJOR DUTIES

  • Assess, manage, and treat patients with communication and swallowing disorders
  • Provide education and in-services to staff, patients, families, and volunteers
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient-centered care
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with community groups and external agencies
  • Provide referrals and consultation to other professionals as appropriate
  • Document clinical services in accordance with institutional and regulatory standards
  • Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain patient safety and adhere to infection prevention and control practices
  • Monitor workload and service statistics and report to administration as required
  • Maintain equipment and materials while supporting ongoing professional development and departmental activities
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology or equivalent

  • Member in good standing with CASLPO

  • Previous work experience with adult communication and swallowing disorders

  • Experience with video fluoroscopy assessment of swallowing disorders.

  • Assistive Devices Program authorizer an asset

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

 

Location: Multi-Site, working on site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. SMMH is the home-site for this position.

 

Hours of Work:  Current hours of work are between the hours of 8 am - 4 pm, Monday - Friday. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
