OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for overseeing food, nutrition, environmental, and laundry services as well as the Diabetes Education Programs at Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare, ensuring high-quality and efficient service delivery. The role involves leading staff, managing catering and vending services, developing goals and key performance indicators, and maintaining a safe healthcare environment in compliance with regulations. Additionally, the position focuses on patient care, staff performance, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement through collaboration with key stakeholders and performance monitoring.

ROLE
  • Effectively lead a team of Environmental Services, Diabetes Education Programs and Food & Nutrition Services staff
  • Responsible for the overall provision of food services and environmental services
  • Managing Dietitians, responsible for creation and implementation of standard admission diet, ensuring correct and safe nutrition for the patient
  • Responsible for effective planning, and coordination of the food and nutrition services and environmental services function including development of short and long term goals for the department. Additionally, this position requires the provision of laundry and linen services within the site.
  • Responsible for menu, supply, prep, and distribution of 3 meals per day, including therapeutics
  • Ensure food is provided on a timely basis for patients at MAHC and Meals on Wheels, based on best quality for best price, in safe way
  • Administer catering activities of department
  • Coordinate vending services within the Garden Court, including but not limited to the financials
  • Manage and support team responsible for cleaning and disinfecting medical equipment, patient rooms, treatment spaces, operating rooms, emergency departments, and other acute‑care areas
  • Manage and support teams responsible for routine and terminal cleaning of non–clinical areas across the facility, including offices, public spaces, corridors, and support areas
  • Ensure compliance with PIDAC standards to maintain a safe, sanitary, and infection‑controlled environment for patients, staff, and visitors · Manage laundry and linen services within the site. Single-sited Services 
  • Management of staff including hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and discipline
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators/personal business commitments for each department of responsibility, in collaboration with the Director, Facilities & Operations and the strategic direction of MAHC
  • Participate as member of Infection Prevention & Control Committee, as identified by the terms of reference
  • Support the provision of a healthy, safe and sanitary health care environment according to guidelines set by current legislation, standards and regulations
  • Managing of Diabetes Education Programs (multi-site), including the management of staff who provide safe and effective education ensuring patients understand, manage, and live well while managing their symptoms.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • College or University Degree in a related field
  • Recognized certification in Environmental Services Management and/or Food Services Supervision or equivalent
  • Member of a Regulated Health Profession is considered an asset
  • At least 3 years of current management/leadership experience in support services in a hospital or health care setting
  • Demonstrated skill at working with staff, physicians and volunteers in a collaborative manner
  • Excellent knowledge of evidence-based practice, Provincial Infection Diseases Advisory Committee (PIDAC), Environmental Protection Act, Hazardous Waste Information Network, and other legislation

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 
Location: Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Hours of Work:  Monday – Friday during regular business hours, however you may be required to be available occasionally during evenings and weekends according to departmental and organizational requirements.
 
Contract Duration: Approximately 4 months
