Working together to provide outstanding integrated health care to our communities delivering best patient outcomes with exemplary standards and compassion, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site. 



As an Accounting Clerk at Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare you will; 

  • Assist the Finance Manager by ensuring accurate, timely and relevant financial information to contribute to and support the organization for decision purposes. This includes but is not limited to timely and accurate recording of: accounts payable. Timely preparation of the accrual schedule at month end. 

  • Match invoices to PO on a daily basis. 

  • Ensure authorized signature for invoices without matching PO. 

  • Enter PO invoices data, physician payments and miscellaneous non-PO invoices into the A/P system. 

  • Match cheques issued with appropriate invoice and file invoices/cheque stub. 

  • Reconcile supplier statements. 

  • Respond to external, internal and annual audit A/P queries. 

  • Reconcile unprocessed PO records. 

  • Reconcile the Accounts Payable control account in the G/L to the Accounts Payable sub-system on a monthly basis.      

  • Work with the purchasing department to streamline and enhance the process for capturing/recording vendor invoices and reconciling any differences due to price and volume variances to purchase orders. 



  • 2-year Community college diploma preferably in Accounting or Business Administration 



  • 2 years recent & related accounting experience in a computerized health care environment 

  • Experience with Great Plains accounts payable an asset; 

  • Experience with accounts receivable 

  • Experience with MIS 

  • Excellent computer skills having worked with Microsoft Office Word and Excel 

  • Highly motivated and flexible with the ability to adapt quickly to new situations/challenges 

  • Demonstrated appreciation and respect for protocol, professionalism, and confidentiality. 

  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills 

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Location(s): Multi-Site, working at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville.

Hours of Work: Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
