The Manager, Emergency Services & Patient Flow is responsible for improving patient quality and safety across Muskoka Algonquin Health Care, and for the coordination and provision of patient care at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital sites. In addition, the Manager is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the multi site Supervisor role and Bed Allocator.
ROLE
- Improve patient quality and safety across MAHC’s Huntsville and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital sites
- Ensure nursing care is patient-centered, effective, efficient, and compliant with regulatory standards
- Oversee daily operations within the departments, coordinating care with clinical leaders and staff at both sites
- Lead the development and monitoring of patient safety, utilization, and fiscal sustainability metrics
- Foster collaboration with medical directors, inter-professional teams, and community partners to implement evidence-based practices
- Work with regional partners to seamlessly transition patients throughout their care journey to ensure the right patient is in the right spot at the right time
- Actively engage in the identification, assessment, and mitigation of clinical risks within the department, including developing quality of care strategies to address identified needs
- Lead and manage the Code Orange Response Plan, ensuring preparedness and effective execution
- Manage projects related to patient care services, including developing charters, timelines, and reporting progress
- Plan, organize, and supervise departmental functions, aligning policies and procedures with organizational goals
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets, monitor inventory, and ensure efficient resource utilization
- Supervise staff, conduct performance reviews, support professional development, and ensure optimal staff scheduling in accordance with union agreements.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Post secondary education in Nursing required
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive professional experience as a Registered Nurse with a focus in acute care, and critical care
- Minimum of 3 years of current progressive leadership experience in a unionized setting
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
- Recognized credentials in Emergency/Critical Care nursing

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Location: Multi-Site, working in person at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville.
Hours of Work: Shifts will be Monday to Friday 8 am - 4 pm, however shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements. You may also be required to be available evenings and weekends.
