ROLE:

Support month-end and year-end processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, statutory filings, and maintaining working papers for auditors.

Coordinate the preparation, submission, and review of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial statements for both internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.

Ensure all financial reporting aligns with applicable standards (e.g., GAAP, PSAS, CRA guidelines, OHRS, and MOHLTC MIS).

Analyze monthly financial results, conduct variance analysis, and prepare reports for leadership, providing actionable insights for performance optimization.

Develop financial models, dashboards, and forecasting tools to aid decision-making and identify areas for improvement.

Oversee internal and external audit activities, ensuring timely responses to inquiries, and preparing necessary documentation and reconciliations.

Collaborate with department managers on budgeting, financial planning, and process improvements to align with strategic goals.

Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate financial policies while providing support for the overall financial management of the organization.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- University or College Degree / Diploma in Business, Finance, Administration, Accounting, or other relevant areas
- Pursuing a professional CPA designation is considered an asset
- Minimum of 5 years in depth financial reporting and variance analysis experience, emphasis on government / not for profit environments
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting manager portfolios and senior management relating to variance analysis and mitigation strategies
- Excellent knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and CICA Handbook (PSAB)
- Knowledge of MoH MIS / Ontario Hospital Reporting System (OHRS) reporting guidelines
- Knowledge of Broader Public Sector Accountability Act

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Location: Multi-Site, working on site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Hours of Work: Hours of work are generally Monday - Friday from 8 am - 4 pm. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
