OVERVIEW
The Manager of Central Patient Registration & Scheduling is a vital role in MAHC’s provision of healthcare by ensuring that patients receive the care they need promptly and efficiently. They are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational requirements of Patient Registration & Scheduling Services at a multi-site unionized facility. They are responsible for coordinating and managing patient access to healthcare services, including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and managing patient registration.
ROLE
- Plan, organize, direct, and supervise all functions within the Patient Registration and Scheduling departments across multiple hospital sites.
- Oversee patient registration to ensure accurate data collection for medical care, billing, and external agency submissions.
- Manage patient scheduling to ensure timely appointments and excellent customer service, particularly for diagnostic imaging.
- Supervise communication functions, including the switchboard, emergency codes, and alarm panel alerts.
- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements, focusing on key performance indicators like CT and surgical wait times.
- Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures in collaboration with staff, medical professionals, and committees.
- Support staff development through education, training, and enhancing competencies.
- Participate in accreditation processes and implement quality improvement and risk management activities.
- Monitor financial performance and develop strategies for cost-effective practices within registration and scheduling operations.
- Manage staff activities, including hiring, training, performance reviews, and discipline, ensuring a high-performance team culture.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post secondary education in Health Information Management, Health Policy, Health Administration, or related degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of current progressive professional experience with a focus in health information management and/or health care customer service.
- Minimum of 3 years of current progressive leadership experience in a unionized setting
- Detailed knowledge, demonstrated computer literacy and ability with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Health Records
- Knowledge and experience working in a health care system with adherence to information privacy laws, release of information, and access laws.
- Detailed knowledge of Cerner, Ocean, & Process Fusion Applications is preferred

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Location: Multi-Site, working on site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Hours of Work: General work hours are Monday to Friday 8 am - 4 pm, however shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements. You may also be required to be available on call, evenings, and weekends.
