Working together to provide outstanding integrated health care to our communities delivering best patient outcomes with exemplary standards and compassion, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site. 

ROLE

  • Perform housekeeping duties, preventative cleaning tasks and assigned custodial duties in all areas of the facility thus ensuring the facility environment meets the required standards.
  • Perform duties related to hard floor maintenance program, deep cleaning program, carpet care program, garbage pick up, recycling and carpet vacuuming program.
  • Adhere to daily, weekly and monthly cleaning check off lists, workplace policies and routines;  including but not limited to:  refinishing of wall surfaces as assigned, hanging drapes and curtains, washing and making beds and transporting of clean and soiled linens.
  • Supporting the continuous quality improvement of the department by providing constructive ideas and solutions to problems and challenges involving:  prudent use of resources, waste control and report to supervisor abnormal use of supplies.
  • Utilizes professional communication to establish a working relationship with patients, co-workers for the purpose of meeting the needs of the clients, ensuring respect, dignity, and individuality of clients and co-workers.
  • Ensures daily, the neatness and cleanliness of patient rooms, common areas including but not limited to rooms and equipment including:  furniture, closets, mobility devices, tubs/bathrooms including commode chairs, utility rooms and kitchens.
  • Participates in continuing education to ensure skills and abilities are maintained and enhanced.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)  

  • Secondary School Diploma 

  • Successful completion of Public Health Ontario’s Environmental Toolkit based on the Best Practices for Environmental Cleaning for Prevention and Control of Infections, PIDAC 2018, within one month of start date. 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S) 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English. 

  • Ability to work well with others in an interdisciplinary team environment. 

  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work and complete workload assignments with minimal supervision. 

  • Must complete workload assignments with a high degree of attention to detail and thoroughness throughout areas of assignment. 

  • Show an eagerness and capacity to adapt to change. 

  • Regular and punctual attendance is a requirement of this position. 

  • Individual must be able to meet the physical requirements of this position which include lifting, standing, walking and the operation of various equipment for long periods of time. 

  • As a condition of employment, external hires are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety department. 

 

DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION 

  • Previous environmental aide experience in a healthcare facility is considered an asset.

Location: Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville 

Department: Support Services

Hours of Work: Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement. 

 

Conditions of employment for external hires includes;

  • Proof of immunization and vaccination records to the Hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety department.  
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check.
