Working together to provide outstanding integrated health care to our communities delivering best patient outcomes with exemplary standards and compassion, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site. 

 

ROLE

The Decision Support Analyst will be responsible for leading and/or contributing to various initiatives to support advancing the organization’s strategic goals and overall analytics maturity.
  • Works collaboratively with Senior Leadership Team, Directors, Managers, and Clinical Team members to provide support and performance monitoring initiatives and dashboards/scorecards.
  • Promote a culture of data literacy by supporting managers in the interpretation and application of data.
  • Analyze business information and develop reports to enable informed decision making through:
    • Analysis and interpretation of complex data sets, providing insights to support decision making
    • Designs, develops, and maintains decision support systems and databases
    • Provide guidance and support to users of decision support tools
    • Regularly evaluate decision support systems to ensure they are effective and up to date
  • Attends and supports committees, both internally and externally as required.
  • Network with provincial peers to keep current with trends in data analysis and business intelligence technology, highlighting opportunities for collaboration and improvements
  • Evaluates the relationships between Hospital activities and the impact on departmental operations and monthly operating expenses.
  • Supports business cases or new initiatives for funding and improved efficiencies
  • Develops effective reporting tools and visualizations (scorecards/dashboards) to present financial, statistical, and performance measurement information for program leaders, senior leadership and board of director committees
  • Investigates and utilizes appropriate software tools and applications such as SQL server, Tableau, Power BI, IDS, and other statistical and analytical tools to provide comprehensive and meaningful analysis for stakeholders
  • Participate in education offerings related to business intelligence, analytics, reporting and access solutions to support internal and external clients/stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate clinical and statistical data, present key findings and recommendations, exchange information, provide advice/information to stakeholders.
  • Ensures and monitors compliance regarding data requirements, collection methodology, data analysis and information dissemination to meet external regulatory requirements and the internal needs of the organization.
  •  Coordinate and facilitate sessions with stakeholders to identify and document their data requirements for program initiatives and external reporting requirements.
  • Collaborates regularly with the Finance Department to validate specified clinical indicators on a regular and ad hoc basis.
  • Identify issues/changes to data standards and OH reporting and advise/support appropriate stakeholders
  • Actively participates in standing and ad-hoc committees, task groups, accreditation and continuous quality improvement teams, providing a decision support perspective to data/reporting issues within these groups, as assigned by the Manager or Director Finance & Decision Support.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)

  • Diploma / degree in business, finance, computer or data science, Health Management, statistics, or in a related discipline

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in analytics, modelling, consulting and health information management
  • The ideal candidate will be analytical, detail-oriented, and have exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • The individual will be able to engage with audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated understanding of quality improvement, lean methodologies, and program evaluation
  • Role model, positive attitude, and excellent quality work

 

DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Hospital/healthcare experience 
  • Experience working with Hospital Data sets including HIT, NACRS, Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), NRS, CCRS, OMHRS, WTIS, OHA analytics tools, IDS, etc. an asset
  • Experience with Tableau or other business analytics tools (Power BI) is an asset
  • Detailed knowledge of Cerner/Oracle & Med2020 is preferred

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

 

Location: Multi-Site, working on site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis

 

Hours of Work:  Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
