What we are looking for:
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, you will become an integral member of the interprofessional team responsible for providing compassionate, patient and family centered care at Oak Valley Health (Markham Stouffville Hospital and Uxbridge Hospital).
What you bring to the role:
As a member of the corporate Respiratory Therapy Department, you will support both our Markham and Uxbridge Hospitals, primarily the Uxbridge Emergency Department. This role is a progressive approach where the scope of the RT is maximized and fully integrated into managing patient care along with the rest of the interprofessional team. The role will also provide some support to the Uxbridge Med/Surg inpatient unit for patients with respiratory care needs and in a critical care response capacity in a deteriorating patient scenario.
Requirements include:
- Current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario and preferred membership to the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists and/or the Respiratory Therapy Society of Ontario
- Minimum 1 year of RRT work experience in acute care
- Preference given to applicants holding recent experience and demonstrated competency in ICU and ED and who have demonstrated the ability to assess the patients response to care, respond appropriately, problem solve and set priorities
- Current BCLS, ACLS and NRP is mandatory; current PALS is preferred
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates initiative and the ability to function both independently and as a multidisciplinary team member in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Proficient computer skills
- Demonstrated good attendance record and performance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
- Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
Work Schedule:
Successful applicants should be available to work any shift, 7.5 and 11.25hrs, Days and Nights, weekdays, weekends and holidays. Please note schedule may change due to operational needs
This position requires support to both the Markham site and the Uxbridge Site.
Compensation:
Band L: 38.80 - 47.32
