What we are looking for:

As a member of our interprofessional team, you will be responsible for providing assessment, treatment, education and counseling to adult inpatients with swallowing and communication impairments within the subacute and acute stroke patient population– in addition to the support of a variety of subacute and acute medicine, and rehab adult populations within Markham Stouffville Hospital.
You will also have the opportunity to participate in the ongoing program development and quality improvement activities.

 

What you bring to the role: 

  • Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Current registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario
  • Preference will be given to candidates with at least 2 years recent experience with dysphagia  and communication disorders  in a subacute and/or acute medical environment ( ALC, general medicine, neurology,  and stroke rehab patient populations)
  • Proficiency with videofluoroscopic swallow studies;  MBSImP certification 
  • Recent experience with treatment/management of speech, language, and cognitive communication  disorders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development
  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
  • Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required

 

Work Schedule: 

Shifts at either the Markham or RCC site Monday to Saturday (0830-1630h).

Please note, schedule is subject to change based on operational demands

It is the responsibility of casual staff to provide reasonable availability to their department, inclusive of a
minimum of two weekdays and two weekends within each 6-week period

 

Compensation:

Salary Grid: OPCOM13:
$44.80 - $57.08 per hour
