What We Need:
The unit secretary is a valuable member whose role has a significant impact on the efficient and effective operation of the unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for both clerical and reception duties within any clinical area of the hospital through the Resource Team. You will also provide support to all Oak Valley Health sites including RCC.
Responsibilities will include:
- Reception duties and telephone communication in this very sensitive and complex area
- Answer and monitoring the patient call bell system
- Providing information related to patient care as authorized by the Patient Care Manager or her delegate
- Recording, organizing, inputting and filing of physician orders in the computer
- Meditech proficiency is an asset
- Assisting the Clinical Leader / Facilitating Nurse as required
- General clerical duties: Filing, ordering supplies, payroll
- Coordinating the replacement of staff for sick calls
- Monitoring and assessing IT support computer equipment
- Participating in special projects as requested
What you bring to the role:
- Previous unit secretary experience, hospital experience preferred.
- Sound knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable within different units of the healthcare organization is essential
- Proficient computer and typing skills
- Strong customer service, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a fast pace environment
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills with a high attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently
- Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
- Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.
Work Schedule:
The successful candidates will be required to work 3.75 hour/ 7.5 hour/ 11.25 hours Days, Evenings and Nights (0700-1500, 0800-1600, 0900-1700, 1400-2200, 0700-1900, 0730-1930-1900-0700-1930-0730) including weekends and statutory holidays. Please note that shifts are subject to change based on operational needs.
Compensation:
Band CUP C03: $25.93–$29.17 per hour
