National Manager, Foundation Giving

Breakthrough T1D is currently seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative and resourceful National Manager, Foundation Giving to join our team. This is a remote, home office-based position open to candidates located anywhere in Canada. Reporting to the National Director, Leadership Giving Operations, the National Manager is an individual contributor manager responsible for leading the planning and execution of a national foundation giving program. This role supports staff across the country by providing vetted foundation leads, strategic guidance, and materials to help secure funding, while also managing their own portfolio of foundation prospects to meet annual revenue targets. Here’s what your primary responsibilities would be:

·        Manage a personal portfolio of 300 foundation donors/prospects, ranging from $5,000 to $500,000, across all stages of engagement in order to meet annual revenue targets

·        Collaborate with fundraising staff to identify, cultivate, and steward strategic foundation partnerships

·        Execute acquisition strategies to grow foundation support and meet revenue targets, ensuring high-quality stewardship for active foundation donors

·        Coordinate national proposal development timelines and maintain a centralized application schedule, feeding into the Leadership Giving team’s prospect pipeline

·        Support regional staff with foundation grant applications, providing guidance and resources

·        Maintain and update internal toolkits to assist regional staff in identifying and soliciting foundation and corporate grants

·        Use CRM systems to track and manage donor activity in relation to foundation management

·        Develop and implement annual business plans and strategies for foundation giving aligned with Breakthrough T1D’s mission and goals

 

 

Here’s what we’re looking for:

Professional Experience and Core Qualifications

·        Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising or advancement, with a relevant post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

·        Fundraising certificate, CFRE certification, and/or AFP membership are assets

·        Proven success in strategic proposal development, donor solicitation, gift closure and stewardship; able to grow the foundation giving programs by moving quickly on opportunities

·        Experience in grant writing, including researching, drafting, and editing proposals

·        Experience in foundation giving in higher education, healthcare, or research sectors

·        Bilingualism in French and English is an asset

 

Essential Skills and Work Style

·        Strong ability to identify leadership giving opportunities and quickly assess donor alignment

·        Ability to translate research concepts and effectively communicate Breakthrough T1D’s mission; knowledge of autoimmune diseases and Canadian health research is an asset

·        Knowledge of relevant fundraising legislation, regulations, and ethical standards

·        Strategic and collaborative approach to working with staff, volunteers, and partners nationwide

·        Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to influence with integrity

·        Highly organized and resourceful, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines

·        Comfortable working independently in a time-sensitive, goal-driven environment

 

The salary range for this role is anticipated to be $78,000 - $88,000, commensurate with skills and experience level of the selected candidate.

 

Location Preference: Anywhere within Canada (remote position, working from home-office)
