Breakthrough T1D is seeking an inspiring and strategic leader to serve as National Manager, Event Fundraising. In this role, you will drive the growth and impact of our signature, special, and independent fundraising events across the country, fueling our vision of a world without T1D.
We’re looking for a skilled fundraising events professional who leads through influence, brings exceptional program management and organizational skills, and has the drive to grow the success and impact of our fundraising events portfolio.

Here’s more detail about what your primary responsibilities would be:
- Program management of Breakthrough T1D’s event fundraising programs, including monitoring overall project progress, meeting key milestones, navigating process updates, and informing strategies to address challenges through staff input and collaboration.
- Liaise with support teams and collaborate closely with logistics and volunteer engagement teams to ensure open communication, effective collaboration, and a cohesive approach to participant engagement and milestone delivery.
- Lead the collaborative development and execution of the annual fundraising plan, including ongoing review of results and brainstorming ideas to boost participation and fundraising.
- Lead the development of new fundraising initiatives and technologies, and implement program and process updates based on business reviews and market trends.
- Develop a strategic and innovative approach to prizing and contests to enhance the success of event fundraising programs while maintaining cost efficiencies.
- In collaboration with the Leadership Giving Team, develop engaging, meaningful, and impactful stewardship strategies for key fundraisers and teams.
- Support event data management by collaborating with regional teams to assess reporting needs and working with IT-Finance on report development, dashboard maintenance, and inquiries.
- Manage the development, maintenance, and annual review of fundraising websites to support an exceptional participant experience while capturing meaningful data to drive results.
- Provide input and feedback on program marketing plans, including identifying target audiences and key messages for email fundraising campaigns, to support recruitment and fundraising strategies for signature events.
- Develop and maintain open, collaborative, and trusting relationships with regional teams to support the growth of all signature and independent fundraising event programs, including leading meetings and delivering training.
- Lead, coach, develop, and inspire team members through one-on-one supervision and overall team management.
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum of 5 years of direct fundraising and/or event fundraising experience, along with a university degree or college certificate in fundraising management, business, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- People management experience
- Experience in developing and executing large-scale peer-to-peer fundraising programs and events
- Experience working with an online fundraising platform is an asset (e.g., Raisin)
- Experience engaging corporate employee participation in events and a strong understanding of third-party event requirements are considered assets
- Experience working within an organization that includes regional chapters, national staff, volunteers, and Board members
- Ability to plan and manage multiple projects with varying timelines, and to handle competing and shifting priorities
- Service-oriented, with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills and the ability to influence colleagues to execute national programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of marketing and communications
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Solutions-oriented, with strong problem-solving abilities; able to take initiative and work independently
Salary: The salary range for this role is anticipated to be $78,000 - $88,000, commensurate with skills and experience level of the selected candidate.
Location Preference: This role is open to candidates living anywhere in Canada and will work remotely from a home office.
