We are currently looking for a Mechanical Supervisor/Foreperson to join our team in Red Deer, Alberta!

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Order materials for job sites and coordinate manpower requirements
  • Mentor, coach, and train apprentices and journeypeople
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Control and Inspection
  • Act as the liaison between the General Contractor, Project Manager, and assigned crews and attend field-based site meetings
  • Champion the Company’s health and safety program and ensure all paperwork and meetings are completed
  • Generate a site-specific execution plan that coordinates budgets, QAQC and construction schedules to maintain productivity
  • Record and submit daily or weekly crew timesheets to the Project Manager for approval
  • Provide daily/weekly updates and forecasting of tasks, manpower and tools to the Project Manager
  • Coordinate field level subcontractor activities
  • Refer staffing issues to the Project Manager or Superintendent for resolution
  • Refer change orders to the Project Manager for pricing and submission for approval
  • Maintain a Job Journal (and daily reports as required) with relevant information and documentation
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, submittals, and specifications to determine layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems; Provide input and coordinate with VDC teams for project compliance
  • Install, repair, and maintain domestic, commercial, or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors; Coordinate mechanical openings required in walls and floors
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings
  • Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines
  • Review specifications to select the type and size of pipe required and measure, cut, thread, bend, clamp, solvent cement, or solder pipe
  • Assemble and install valves and fittings and assemblies
  • Join pipe sections and secure them in position
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
  • Perform other duties as required

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Blueprint reading
  • Knowledge of current applicable Code
  • Superior knowledge of applicable hand tools & power tools and scissor lifts
  • Installation, maintenance, and repair skills
  • Ability to lead others in troubleshooting and emergency repairs
  • Ability to develop and implement planned maintenance programs
  • Ability to read, understand, and follows safety procedures
  • Strong understanding of VDC and total station systems use

Required Experience

  • Plumbing Trade Certification/Red Seal
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a Journeyperson Plumber
  • Experience in a hospital setting is considered an asset
  • 2nd Class Gas Certification
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is preferred
